Keep Sugar Land Beautiful's (KSLB) award winning programs help motivate thousands of volunteers annually to improve their neighborhoods, creating a healthier, safer, and more livable environment. KSLB was recognized by Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation in 2002 with the Governor's Community Achievement Award for excellence in environmental education and programming. The award includes a $130,000 landscape grant to be used to beautify a portion of a state right-of-way within the city.
KSLB participates, plans, and partners with a number of local governments, associations and nonprofits in a variety of ongoing projects. | | |

The annual Don't Mess with Texas Trash Off each spring and the Oyster Creek Clean Up held each fall mobilize hundreds of volunteers to clean up City roadways, parks and waterways and promote litter prevention.
Battery, Oil, Paint and Antifreeze (BOPA) Collection events provide Sugar Land residents an environmentally acceptable way to dispose of chemicals, oil, batteries, paint and other potential polluters. KSLB partners with the Fort Bend County Recycling Center to put on these collection events.
Storm Drain Marking- providing education on nonpoint source pollution and encouraging the protection of the Sugar Land watersheds. | |

Yardwise Demonstration Site and Composting Classes- hands on display located at Lost Creek Park for composting ideas. Classes are held onsite to educate residents about composting and vermicomposting (that's composting with worms) techniques.
Tree Care 101 classes provide hands on instruction geared for the Sugar Land area on tree selection and care.
KSLB Speakers Bureau- providing information to schools, Homeowners Associations, civic groups, scouts and other community groups.
Teachers Open House- held annually and open to all teachers, parents and intested citizens to inform educators about materials avaialable from KSLB and other sources.

Christmas Tree Recycling- KSLB partners with the City of Sugar Land to recycle Christmas trees into free mulch made available to all residents.
Neighborhood Day - KSLB partners with the Fort Bend Corps and the Old Sugar Land Alliance to perform local home repair and yard maintenance projects for elderly, sick or disabled homeowners.
Liberty Garden at Oyster Creek Park - A beautiful spot for reflection and contemplation of the freedoms enjoyed in our country. KSLB partners with the Sugar Land Garden Club to maintain the garden. | |
