ArtView made its debut in the Houston art community in August 2002 with "First View," a wonderful 3-day event held in Houston's Downtown Historical District. ArtView's most recent exhibit, "A Butterfly's View," was held over at Papillon Bistro Francais in Houston's Downtown Theatre District. ArtView is a nonprofit Texas corporation devoted to promoting art and to bringing people into the heart of Houston to support neighborhood businesses, some of which are suffering badly in this construction phase of revitalizing of our city's downtown and near-town areas.

Art...all day, every day for the rest of our lives.

As unique individuals, we are attracted to certain people and not others, certain foods, fashions, etc. We are, by nature, ever evolving as we explore our own personal universe. We sample different styles, try new things, and decide whether to repeat those experiences...we choose to keep what we want or need in our lives.

We respond to art. Some of it moves us in a way that we enjoy, some touches who we are or who we want to be--art brings something inside us to life. With no need for explanation, we simply enjoy our physical and emotional responses to art. It makes us more aware of ourselves, comforts us, makes us feel happy or inspired. Art is fuel for the fire of life.

Visiting a museum or gallery can feed that flame. But it cannot compare with owning the art that really moves us, bringing that fuel home where we can constantly feed our spirits with art that works on and through us.

Ahhhhhh, the view...the ArtView!

ArtView is a nonprofit corporation, formed to promote emerging artists and support mid-career artists, and to make their work more available to art lovers. If we bring even one talented but undiscovered artist to the public eye, we will have succeeded. If we manage to bring many talented artists into view and put more art out into the community where it can be enjoyed, it will be a dream-come-true for everyone involved.

Rather than maintaining a permanent gallery, ArtView intends to stage special art events in various locations around Houston, particularly in downtown and near town historical areas in hopes of bring inner-city dwellers out to explore their own neighborhoods and bringing outer-city people in to older parts of the inner-city as they are being revitalized.
